We might just be entering the summer but in the world of fashion we are always one step ahead and this brings us to the autumn/ winter trends of 2011.

The runways have all been and gone and are even now in preparation for the next fall, however with winter just around the corner let’s get prepared and see what’s in store for mens designer clothing

Coats will be the main item on everyone’s wish list but what collection will we embark on?

This year’ coat collection will see a comeback of the trench coat, those loveable duffle and pea coats. These will be double breasted slim or oversized and of course the winter staples of leather and fur will make an appearance.

The Burberry boys have been busy as the autumn /winter collection 2011 looks set to be a cracker.

The trench coat is back and it’s bigger and brighter than ever. In keeping with their tartan routes, Burberry have fashioned for us this year a black and red checkered long coat.

It looks as if a packet of fruit pastels has been spilled onto their mood board as all the 2011 trench coats get a dash of colour.  Lime green, sky blue and burnt oranges make up the colour of choice for this year’s winter season.

Giving models the look of returning colliders, the trench coat once again takes the crown as a masculine yet fashionable essential winter wardrobe item.

Alber Elbaz’s collection for Lanvin features a concoction of sport and military styles. They take the beloved trench coat on board and add their spin as the item features zips, as well as being the coat on the present market made entirely from parachute fabric.

The trench coat is one of the most versatile items of clothing a man can own. Oozing elegance and style with an effortless cool, the trench coat is loved by many.

Men’s designer clothing has seen a lot of strange and wonderful things over the years yet nothing says chic and casual classic as much as the trench coat.

Traditionally a camel or kaki colour, the trench coat will come in all shapes and sizes this year.

What are the benefits of going trench? Well it can be matched with practically anything for an all over classic look. A trench coat can add the much needed finishing touches to a look or make a show stopping center piece on your daily catwalk from A to B.

International fashion label Dolce and Gabbana have also taken up the latest menswear look, perhaps marking the official return of the trench coat. Their double breasted slim fit long lapel trench is stunning.

Gieves & Hawkes also offer the latest in trench wear as they enter the heavyweight fashion arena with a beige trench coat  once again illustrating the effortlessly cool look a man can carry off with just a coat.
