At MODA we employ the traditional methods for applying polished plaster, which have been practised for thousands of years but more prolifically since the Renaissance period.

The plaster, which originates from the Venetian region of Italy, and is usually referred to as Venetian polished plaster, is either lime or resin based, and contains granulated marble, either coarse or fine, depending on the desired effect.  Venetian polished plaster can be burnished to an even gloss and is available in a full range of colours.

Marmorino is a coarse-grained plaster, and can be applied in many different ways. It can be applied as a matte finish or with soft satin sheen. It can also be applied as a pitted finish giving a naturally aged effect.  Marmorino has the potential for creativity as it allows the artisan to combine techniques.

It is also possible to overlay the plaster with tinted waxes or glazes so that subtle depths of colour can achieved in the creation of unique and beautiful walls. The wax also protects the walls and allows them to be easily maintainable.
